Well the most celebrated long weekend of the “summer” is here!
The sun is shining, with only a small threat of more rain in the background. Our green lawn is speckled with an array of blue-mauve forget-me-nots! So pretty!
Lawns are in need of trimming as they are extra long due to many May showers.
Plants are waiting to be potted in container garden on the deck and some will add to the perennial and herb garden.
Summer time and the livin’ is easy, always comes to mind on a beautiful day like today.

Happy May 2-4. Actually it sounds like fun.
We have had sooo much rain that I have had to run out and work in the yard when I get a chance. My works sure has suffered, by the time we get around to getting a little spring work done summer will be here.
Love “Forget-Me-Knots” they are a true blue in every respect.

It has been a great weekend!
Showers here and there but mostly great for dining on the deck! Adds an extra summer room to our house.
Some of the forget-me-knots were lost when the lawn was trimmed but there are lots more in the corner areas–so beautiful!

It is something that has become somewhat of a “rite of passage” for Canadian teens.
The reasons for the weekend are outlined at http://ow.ly/4Zezk; however, no scientific explanation is given for the varied celebratory behaviors.
For many hard-working families, it is just a chance to enjoy the fair weather of our warmer season of late spring into summer.
Me, I am enjoying the planting of some herbs & cherry tomatoes to start the container garden on our deck. Next up, a cool one–cafe latte, homemade. Cheers for the holiday, Elizabeth!

As an English woman, I never have and never will understand Canadians and their blooming May 24, it’s like a yearly rite of passage that gives people license to go crazy. My children are Canadians and they totally get it. Starting in High School it was “May 2-4, May 2-4, camping, bush parties, B.B.Q.’s etc.” The frenzy started weeks in advance as did my behind the scenes stalking to find out what they were really going to be upto! I really think you would have to grow up here, because I’m not feeling it after 34 years and am more excited to visit some garage sales!
