Hyacinths, purple and sweet, have blossomed in the front garden.

They are always a sign of April to me, also a wisp of hope after a long winter.

This year, they are blooming quite early but are still a delight to see.

Hyacinths have long been a source of inspiration.

Centuries ago these words were written:

β€œIf Of Thy Mortal Goods thou art bereft, and from thy slender store two loaves alone to thee are left, Sell one, and with the dole Buy hyacinths to feed thy soul”
― Moslih Eddin Saadi

It is one quote that has stayed with me since high school.
