In response to The Daily Post's weekly photo challenge: "Victory."
Victory is a complex word, with all sorts of connotations and interpretations -- past, present and future.
Given the horrific events in Paris this week, I have decided to respond with a theme of light for which this city is so well known as it has triumphed over many obstacles. (Note, I have added a French version of my poem, thanks to Google Translate. It has been quite a while since I studied French at university but I think that the translation is on track. :))
a flame for the city of lightI lit a candle for Paris todayit burns brightly for all who were lostwafting warmth towards those who surviveforging on despite savagery’s costune flamme pour la ville de la lumière Je allumé une bougie pour Paris aujourd'hui il brûle vives pour tous ceux qui ont été perdus Transportant chaleur envers ceux qui survivent forgeage en dépit de coûts de la sauvagerie *French translation from Google Translate © 2015 Patricia A.
