TOM THOMSON? FIND ON FAMILY DAY!

In Ontario and places elsewhere, Monday the 21st will be the time to celebrate Family Day.

When this celebration was first proposed, it caused some discussion about the choice of theme.

After all, we were already celebrating Heritage Day, weren’t we?

In our neighbouring country, the United States,  some holidays are observed during the winter months.

Why not have a long weekend or two in Canada? wondered many Canadians. Family Day it is!

Check out local calendars for a few suggestions. Right here in Waterloo Region, there are several options.

The one that interests me most is at The Museum where they are hosting an exhibit about one of my favourite

Canadian artists. The exhibit is called Searching for Tom with a focus on Tom Thomson, an artist who was one of those talents who

opened up the beauty of the Canadian wilderness to so many people.

His life is the story of legends Thomson met an untimely, “unresolved” death.

If you want to know more, visit the exhibit or check out these links or both:

Sometimes, when walking in the community, I wonder about trees that I see:

What would Tom Thomson do?

Have a great weekend!

  1. Hey Marie Elena!
Great whisper of spring, here, too!
However, today the wind is a-blowin’ again just in time for a winter wedding day! Should be a fun family day at this celebration.
Best to you on all your “family” news, too!

  2. Family Day? What a great idea! Celebrate well, Neighbor! Get out there and enjoy some of that beautiful Canada landscape. Today in NW Ohio, the sky is blue, the sun is shining, and grass just received a good, long drink of melted snow. I know winter is far from over (and I’m fine with that), but I’m likin’ this sneak peek of Spring. 😉
