EYE OF A DOG!

2014 Cody!

When I saw this weekly prompt, Eye Spy, only one photo came to mind!

Last summer, 2014, I took this photo of our dog, Cody, as he was looking up at a certain someone’s favourite chair, probably looking for a treat of some variety or maybe a walk in the great outdoors. This customary glance was frequently seen as this creamy coated, cock-a-poo developed his communication skills.

The photo was taken almost a year to the day before Cody passed on, leaving empty the places and the hearts that had been his haunts for 15 years.

How wonderful to have so many photos as reminders!

POEM FOR PARIS — POEME POUR PARIS!

In response to The Daily Post's weekly photo challenge: "Victory."
Victory is a complex word, with all sorts of connotations and interpretations  -- past, present and future.
Given the horrific events in Paris this week, I have decided to respond with a theme of light for which this city is so well known as it has triumphed over many obstacles.
(Note, I have added a French version of my poem, thanks to Google Translate. It has been quite a while since I studied French at university but I think that the translation is on track. :))
a flame for the city of light
I lit a candle for Paris today
it burns brightly for all who were lost
wafting warmth towards those who survive
forging on despite savagery’s cost

une flamme pour la ville de la lumière

Je allumé une bougie pour Paris aujourd'hui
il brûle vives pour tous ceux qui ont été perdus
Transportant chaleur envers ceux qui survivent
forgeage en dépit de coûts de la sauvagerie
